Vanitas

Where Vanitas paintings sought to remind the viewer of the folly of beauty and earthly pleasures in the face of mortality, these images portray the fleeting nature of intimacy and connection in the age of the instant online hook–up.

A series of screenprints inspired by the '“vanitas” genre of painting. Within the settings of romantic and physical encounters, the personal belongings of the unseen lovers become their proxies, scattered on bedside tables or in hotel rooms in temporary still-life tableaux.
